Multicultural exchange of ideas from Griffith Uni visit

March 2014 saw International Public Health students studying at Griffith University join members of the 60 & Better Program for morning tea in our rooms.  Different members spoke about our program, why they enjoy coming along and the strong bonds they have formed.  They was lots of questions from the visitors.  Members gave a Tai Chi demonstration and the craft group displayed items they have produced.  This annual event is always enjoyable for all participants.

Inter-generational learning project a success!

Thanks to a grant from Australia Post Community Fund the 60 & Better Program recently ran a inter-generational IPAD course in collaboration with the Gold Coast Tallebudgera Lions.  Student members volunteered to  individually tutor Seniors on how to use  their IPads.  Rob Panizzon, facilitator said “one on one training works really well, we don’t have to stop the class if one person gets into difficulty”.  Students and Seniors really enjoyed this experience. Cr Daphne McDonald came along to take a look.
